We're hopeful that the redistricting commissions truly were able to do their important work in an independent, non-political fashion that puts the needs of Coloradoans ahead of political parties. Therefore we're very concerned that members of one of the political parties apparently is putting forward its own maps that would continue gerrymandering the state in its party's interests. Colorado needs to show the rest of the country that we have a better way, that the country is better served by avoiding gerrymandering to the extent possible. Politicians should not be choosing their voters; we should be choosing the politicians instead. Please make sure we're doing just that!

Now that voting has commenced for senate plans, I would ask that the commission seriously consider all areas in voting for a final plan. I would only support a plan that keeps Thornton whole and the only plan in the running that does that right now is SP 009. Please support that map or make an amendment to another map to keep Thornton whole! The other maps not only divide Thornton, they divide it in odd ways and don't give our area the competitive district we deserve.

Comment:
I was excited that a non partisan commission would create new districts in Colorado. This process should be insulated from the heavy hand of partisanship which is the inevitable result of a legislative committee. But it seems that in our inaugural effort to remove partisanship is being sabotaged by a partisan group. Republican legislative Redistricting Commissioners Hunter Barnett (R) and Aislinn Kottwitz (R) are working with non-disclosing and unregistered GOP operatives lobbying to shove through a last-minute set of maps to the Supreme Court that would fundamentally alter the make-up of the state senate and house, almost certainly ensuring control for Colorado Republicans over the next decade. I urge the commission to reject any maps that could be tarnished by the ongoing, unreported lobbying to gerrymander legislative districts for the GOP.

Input on House Legislative Map for north Boulder:
I am commenting on the division of the northern section of the city of Boulder between HD 11 and HD 10 in the latest staff map. For most of downtown Boulder and North Boulder, the dividing line between HD 11 on the west and HD 10 on the east is Broadway, which makes a great deal of sense. However, the boundary cuts east at Violet Ave, thus placing the northernmost triangle bounded by Violet Ave on the south, Broadway on the west, and US 36 on the east in HD 11 instead of HD 10. I think this triangle of land should be in HD 10 for three primary reasons:
1) This flat section of Boulder east of Broadway has much more in common with the other plains areas in HD 10 than with the foothills and mountainous areas west of Broadway and has much less in common with the counties of Gilpin and Clear Creek that make up the rest of HD 11.
2) This triangle of land contains Boulder Meadows, Boulder's largest mobile home park. The other sizeable mobile home parks in Boulder -- Mapleton, Vista Village, Orchard Grove and San Lazaro just outside the city limits -- are all in HD 10 and constitute a significant community of interest.
3) The census district that this triangle is in is much more racially diverse than the mountain communities of HD 11 and is much more similar to the diverse populations in other census districts in central and eastern Boulder that are in HD 10.
For these three reasons, moving the triangle of land between Violet Ave, Broadway and US 36 into HD 10 would do a much better job of preserving important communities of interest, so I urge you to make this change to the House Legislative map.

Chaffee County is vastly more aligned with District 7 as a community of interest. . The attempt to gerrymander is wrong, illegal, and must be avoided.
Lamborn has totally ignored Chaffee County for years.
Thanks for doing the rigjt thing.

It is my understanding that last Tuesday the nonpartisan redistricting staff submitted their final set of legislative maps to the redistricting commission. This would appear to ensure fair representation. I support this effort and believe it’s the way it should be done.
However I have been informed that the Republican legislative redistricting commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz are working with non-disclosing and unregistered GOP operatives lobbying to gerrymander such that the make up of the state senate and house would be altered to insure control for the Republicans.
The Commission is meant to be independent and I view this as offensive.

Hello,
I am writing to express concerns over the redistricting maps. We coloradoians voted for non-partisan Commission to draw the map.
I urge you not to consider the changes made because of lobbyist pushing their agenda. Please discard the maps submitted by. Bennet and kottwitz (?)
Thank you.

Hello Colorado Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission,
I've seen the maps that have been proposed by the commission, but I must say that I am not impressed. I could not help feel that the maps could be improve so I decided to make one myself. The map in question was created using Dave's Redistricting.
Here is the link: https://davesredistricting.org/join/b65ef766-0171-4e01-997d-3b67d417e947
If the link does not work, please search for * FE's Colorado * on Dave's Redistricting. Additionally, I added the map's image if all else fails.
Please let me know what you think!
Best,
