I am concerned with what I am hearing about attempts to gerrymander the legislative maps to ensure Republican control of the State House. Please reject maps being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz and support maps drawn by nonpartisan staff.

Comment:
We cannot allow partisan gerrymandering of our state to place control of government into the hands of those who in other states have proven to operate like a gangland mafia. This alert is a case in point.
"But Republican legislative Redistricting Commissioners Hunter Barnett (R) and Aislinn Kottwitz (R) are working with non-disclosing and unregistered GOP operatives lobbying to shove through a last-minute set of maps to the Supreme Court that would fundamentally alter the make-up of the state senate and house, almost certainly ensuring control for Colorado Republicans over the next decade."
We need to fight this in every possible way. Please support the nonpartisan, neutral redistricting staff who recently submitted their final set of legislative maps to the commission, which would ensure fair representation for the people of Colorado.

I am in favor of the final set of legislative maps submitted by our nonpartisan, neutral redistricting staff. I urge you to reject any last-minute attempts by unregistered lobbyists to gerrymander legislative districts for the GOP. Please take a stand for transparency!

I implore you to take a stand for transparency by rejecting any maps that could be tarnished by the ongoing, unreported lobbying to gerrymander legislative districts for the GOP. This is totally against what we, the majority of voters in Colorado, voted for with Amendments Y and Z. The purpose of the independent redistricting commissions is to avoid partisanship. Do not be fooled. Hold strong to your convictions to keep this non-partisan.
You must reject maps being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz and support maps drawn by non-partisan staff. This is your duty as an appointee to the Commission. I am counting on you as my representative on the Commission.
Thank you.

Please draw maps in a non-partisan manner. All districts should be of equal population size and should be drawn in the most whole, not elongated shape, possible with no concern for politics, community, race, or other dividing issues. We live in a square state, please keep the districts square, to mirror the state boundries.
Please reject maps being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz and support maps drawn by nonpartisan staff.

Comment:
The critical issues with redistricting is proportional fairness. That does NOT mean that each district must be comprised of 50/50 GOP/Dem. With the high number of independents in Colorado that is unreasonable. Use the overall percentage of registrations (GOP, DEM, Ind) to ensure each district has roughly that percentage in a district. If the Colorado state percentages of registered voters are 30% Dem. 30% GOP, and 40% Independent, then each district should be apportioned using those percentages. And lobbyists (disclosed or undisclosed) should NEVER be part of this process. They are not "communities of interest". The Supreme Court should throw out any suggestions or maps provided by such persons or groups.

Please do not allow interest groups to alter the redistricting plan submitted by the non-partisal redistricting commission. It is an excellent plan and allows for competition in the new 8th district.

Comment:
I have heard that Republican legislative Redistricting Commissioners Hunter Barnett (R) and Aislinn Kottwitz (R) are attempting to push through their own version of legislative maps and I am very concerned. I strongly support the non-partisan effort to create fair legislative districts and urge the commission to reject any partisan effort to sway the process.
