The congressional district that I live in is CD6. Somehow, an extreme partisan Republican was chosen to represent us. And somehow, Denny Moore was also chosen to be the Commission Chairman. He should resign his Chairmanship. Such accounts that have been published in the news of his views on Covid-19, like calling it the China Virus suggest that he is intellectually unprepared for the position of Chairman. In addition, his views on whether the 2020 election of Joe Biden was legitimate suggest that his views are too partisan to represent Colorado, and Colorado Springs. I am so tired of people who uncritically give voice to such partisan rhetoric. Get rid of him, please.

Chaffee County is a small rural county in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in the center of Colorado with a total population of less than 20,000. We have two principal towns, Salida and Buena Vista with residents numbering approx.. 5,000 and 3,000 respectively. A third town, Poncha Springs, in the middle of the county has less than 1,000 residents but is growing rapidly. Our economic base consists of small family owned and operated farms and ranches combined with a thriving and growing low-impact tourism sector with rafting, fly fishing, hiking, skiing, and mountain biking, also locally owned and operated businesses. We also enjoy a vibrant and widely recognized art and music district and have a growing segment of active and energetic retirees who have move here because of what we offer.. People in our community know each other, value the extraordinary environment we live in and want to maintain the quality of life we enjoy,. They also volunteer their efforts to keep and enhance what we have.: more than 80% of our residents are either currently volunteering with community organization or have done so in the recent past. Combining Chaffee and Gunnison Counties would make sense since our residents share similar values, size and economics. Including the northern ,agricultural ,portion of the San Luis Valley would also be appropriate and perhaps the eastern end of Fremont County but not including Canon City . The large urban area of Colorado Springs does NOT fit with Chaffee County. Our interests, values, and economics are very different and the sheer size of that population would overwhelm , as it currently does, the opportunity for our voices and concerns to be heard in the legislative process. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

I've been alerted that someone is attempting to remove Danny Moore from your commission. This is a huge mistake. Danny is one of the most honest, responsible, and patriotic people I have ever known. I have known him both in his capacity as a military man then later as a government contractor. His concern for the people of our state cannot be questioned. His love of our country is unrivaled. But most importantly, his record of doing what is right - regardless of external pressure or personal cost makes him exactly the kind of person you need on the commission. I am honored to call him a friend.

It has come to my attention that Danny Moore, the Chair of the Redistricting Commission has come under attack for his honest description of the Wuhan (Chinese) virus and other First Amendment rights that he has articulated as an American citizen. I have known Danny for a number of years and he is a man of great integrity and a true patriot. I happen to be a fourth generation American of Korean ancestry and I do not take offense for calling the Wuhan (Chinese) virus for what it is. Identifying the virus of its place of origin is no more racist than calling the Spanish flu the Spanish flu. Furthermore, questioning the validity of the 2020 Presidential election is within our Constitutional rights as citizens. See the Peter Navarro report (see https://navarroreport.com) and the Judicial Watch October 5, 2020 lawsuit against Colorado and the Secretary of State. The left continues to slander anyone who questions what the mainstream media and its political adherents subscribe to. The last time I checked, the First Amendment is still part of our Constitution in spite of attempts to transform and brainwash our society to think otherwise. Danny Moore was elected by his colleagues to chair the Redistricting Commission. Let's not slander an honest and decent man just because he doesn't fall into the Left's perception of what Danny should believe and profess. Danny is no longer and never will be on your plantation. Sincerely, Aleta You, PhD

I am appalled by the recent news that Danny Moore, the recently elected chair of the Colorado Congressional Independent Redistricting Commission, has espoused anti-Asian racist and xenophobic rhetoric in addition to spreading and promoting dangerous disinformation regarding the COVID pandemic and 2020 election. Congressional redistricting is crucial in guaranteeing fair and equitable representation, and assigning that responsibility to someone who not only unabashedly espouses extreme partisan views, but promotes hate-speech and xenophobia without regret or remorse is unacceptable and "un-Colorado". I sincerely hope, as an Asian American and life long Coloradan, that this is dealt with accordingly.

Comment:

The xenophobic comments by the Chair regarding the "China virus" instigate hate towards the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in Colorado. Many AAPI members, including children, live in fear due to the increased bias-motivated incidents occurring in this state and nationwide. Further, it is disconcerting that a person heading the redistricting commission would engage in this rhetoric. We demand the end of the use of such and similar terminology.

It is my understanding that the current chairman has come under assault by those who wish to discredit and silence him. His name is Danny Moore. I know him personally and I have seen his leadership in action. The commission is very fortunate to have him in his current leadership position. Not only have I seen his courage and leadership abilities in action, I have witnessed his financial generosity and support of those much less fortunate and in need of immediate assistance. All that aside, he is a veteran, a business owner who employs several people, a decent man who cares about his community and a friend to anyone who needs his help. Please use his talents wisely and do not let detractors keep him from doing his work. We will all benefit. Thank you, Wendy Campbell

SUBJECT: Keep Danny Moore As Chair of the Redistricting Commission Dear Members of the Commission, I am writing to ask you to retain Danny Moore as the Chair of the Redistricting Commission. Please do not be bullied into changing your very first decision as a commission. If you allow that, then where will it stop? Will you be bullied into changing your plans for the actual redistricting? It is important that this redistricting process be considered above-board, and if you begin the process by compromising because people dislike someone's opinion, then you will not be able to proceed successfully. There will always be people who dislike your decisions on such an important issue as redistricting. Thank you, Connie Johnson

Danny Moore's anti-Asian posts on facebook have revealed clear biases against the Colorado Asian American community. This has nothing to do with whether, as many of his friends have been posting in this public comment section, he has "integrity" in his interpersonal relationships. It has everything to do with whether he can be trusted to chair a committee responsible for ensuring fair congressional representation for diverse communities of Coloradans. Additionally, he actively spread misinformation on election fraud, undermining the public faith in our electoral system that's critical for a healthy democracy. In light of these two facts, I strongly believe that Danny Moore is not qualified to serve on the Congressional Independent Redistricting Commission, and must be removed.

I am writing in support of Danny Moore, and to counter the attacks against him (particularly from 9 news) without showing any basis from their claims. Their comments are not news reporting but more of the liberal left spouting off unfounded negative narrative to destroy Mr. Moore's credibility. I know Danny personally, he is very honorable man. He served our county for several years as an officer, successful business owner employing a number of people, and has spent years studying the political climate to understand the issues facing our state and country. No one is more qualified then Danny Moore and the claims against him are nothing more than political empty rhetoric and slander. I urge you to embrace Danny's leadership and integrity as a valuable contributor for ethical results from redistricting.
