Keep Danny Moore on this commission! Military veterans often have a tough time getting involved in legislative efforts at the grass roots level due to constant moves. As a home for so many active duty military members and veterans, Danny brings a fantastic diversity of viewpoint to this committe. As a business owner, he brings yet another dimension to decisions made by this committe. I've known Danny for 15 years now, and can attest that he will bring the highest caliber of thought and ethics to the decisionsvthat will affect Colorado for the next decade. Keep Danny on the committe!

The Colorado Independent Redistricting Commission is fortunate to have Danny Moore as Chairman of the Colorado Independent Congressional Redistricting Committee. I have personally known Danny for a number of years and he is a man with true integrity. The entire concept of an “independent” redistricting committee is to keep partisan political agendas out of the commission and allow rationale people from all sides of the political spectrum find “independent” solutions. Danny is an excellent choice for this commission and I believe that he will find a way to help facilitate this process. Should the commission ever need people to speak “in-person” about Danny Moore’s qualifications, integrity, and commitment to Colorado, I would be happy to participate. Sincerely, Grant Nelson

As your commission begins the process of redistricting for the State of Colorado, we would like to make some observations from Elbert County. We are geographically just east of the metro area. As a result of our location, a large majority (approximately 90%) of the residents of our county work in the metro area. It is a relatively simple commute, particularly for the northwest corner of our county where about 75% of Elbert County residents live. Consequently, most of the population of Elbert County acquires their services from the metro area....shopping, medical care, transportation needs, etc. We have very little medical care in our county; no hospitals or emergency medical locations. Additionally, we have no renewable water resources which is causing concern as well levels (over 90% of residents are on well and septic as no infrastructure has been developed outside of the 3 small towns) are dropping. Being able to perhaps develop intra-governmental agreements with neighboring counties to tap into their renewable water sources would be a great advantage to Elbert County. For the reasons listed above, it would be appreciated if your commission would consider placing the northwest section of our county in legislative and Congressional districts with similar needs and interests to the adjoining counties. Thank you for your consideration.

I highly recommend Danny Moore as not only a member of the committee, but the Chairman. Mr. Moore is a man of integrity, honesty and has a keen eye for social justice and correct action. He is a leader and will conduct business in an efficient and balanced manner. Because I know Mr. Moore personally, I know that the report put out by 9News was inaccurate and couched in terms that made Mr. Moore's ideas suspect. As a member of a minority he is an excellent representative for people of color and to reject him would be to reject his role as a respected member of the community.

The US Congressional district maps of the last several cycles are a travesty to Adams county and specifically the City of Thornton because they have unfairly divided the city into more that one district while simultaneously and explicitly stating that the City of Aurora constituted a "community of interest". Why should the state's 3rd largest city get special treatment while the state's 6th largest gets carved up to serve a political agenda? I propose that Adams county be kept whole, except for portions of the City of Aurora that are in the county, and then combined with the Jefferson county portion of Westminster and the City and County of Broomfield to constitute a single district with allowances in Weld county and Jefferson county to keep cities whole (for example, Brighton, Arvada, etc.) to meet the population quotient.

I give my complete support to Danny Moore on the comittee. I have know him for over two decades. Both in the Military and then as a business entreprenuer. What impresses me most is his ability to gather information, winnow it down the the facts, and then make unbiased nonpartisan decisions. This ability should be seen as a welcome addition to the comittee rather than a threat. Keep Danny Moore for his integrity and honesty. Bob Shiflet

The maps that have been created in the past for both state legislative district and especially US Congressional districts have gone out of their way to unfairly divide Adams county and specifically the City of Thornton in ways that disenfranchise those who live in the city. If my studies are correct, there is enough population to create a State Senate district around Thornton by itself with some of the unincorporated enclaves it contains. The State House districts are currently gerrymandered for political purposes and specifically disenfranchise voters in the northern regions of those cities by "cracking" the city from north to south. This must change. A good measure in my estimation, is that 104th and areas north of it, as well as the entirety of Northglenn could constitute a district to the extent that population allows. Areas south of 104th in Thornton could combine with other areas of Adams county including Federal Heights to constitute another district. And Eastern portions of the city, east of Holly, could be combined with portions of Brighton and Commerce City to constitute another district. I believe that this is the better way to divide up Thornton for the State legislature.

Danny Moore is an exemplary fair minded individual. I count it as a blessing in my life that I am able to call him a friend. I was proud that he became Redistricting Commission Chair and support his retention.

Instituting the Colorado Congressional Independent Redistricting Commission was a huge positive step toward insuring election results proportionally reflect the will of our State's voting populace. But now, we are making a complete mockery of the Commission because we have a Chairman that has openly espoused and supported the patently false claims and outright lies of former President Trump which assert that the recent Presidential election was stolen. The commission is about making congressional districts fair. The claims and lies supported by Danny Moore are about undoing a fair election. These are diametrically opposed objectives. Both the appearance of fairness and the actual integrity of the Commission will be destroyed with Moore as Chairman. But further, how can someone espousing such beliefs be allowed to participate on this Commission? He must be removed if the Commission is to be able to fairly and competently do its critically important work.
