take a stand for transparency by rejecting any maps that could be tarnished by the ongoing, unreported lobbying to gerrymander legislative districts for the GOP.

Comment:
Colorado has much to be proud of in creating a transparent redistricting commission, please maintain the transparency and neutrality for which it was founded.

Please do not allow last minute changes that Kottwitz and Barnett are proposing. I live in a semi-rural area near the Front Range where houses are growing more than protection for and preservation for open space and fresh water resources. Oil and gas operations from drilling to pipelines surround us and we don't have a voice in the matter. Air pollution and un healthy air quality days are increasing along the Front Range, due to no regulation of Oil & Gas emissions. Farmland is being lost at a very high rate to commercial and residential development, without much thought being given to where can we get local fresh food, especially vegetables. The majority of people in Colorado don't vote for the extreme right wing candidates, so please do not favor and cut out districts that favor Republican voters over Democrats or Independents, either Congressionally or in the state legislature. In the last 10 years, I haven't moved but I have been in possibly 3 different Congressional Districts. I want to live in a Community and be represented by people who believe in science, public health standards, effective public schools, and a friendly social environment. I want nothing to do with nihilistic and anti-scientific people and leaders.

I have commented in person at the Alamosa meeting and on line about the proposed redistricting. My understanding was that the latest map, while not my favorite, was a done deal. I now come to understand that Republican legislative Redistricting Commissioners Hunter Barnett (R) and Aislinn Kottwitz (R) are working with non-disclosing and unregistered GOP operatives lobbying to shove through a last-minute set of maps to the Supreme Court that would fundamentally alter the make-up of the state senate and house, almost certainly ensuring control for Colorado Republicans over the next decade. This is a mockery of everything that Independent Redistricting Commissions are meant to stand for. Colorado is a blue state from the last election. Colorado voters voted for an independent committee to listen to the people and draw up the maps. Not to once again have republicans try to fix things to their own liking. Thank you.

Please be alert to and reject any last minute maps submitted by two GOP-affiliated commissioners. These last minute maps divest the integrity of the Redistricting Commission's work and replace it with cronyism and partisanship.
Thank you for listening,
Tracey

Comment:
Republican Commissioners Hunter Barnett and Aislinn Kottwitz, who are members of the Legislative Redistricting Commission, are attempting to gerrymander the Colorado Senate and House, ensuring Republican control of the state assembly for the next decade.
On Tuesday, nonpartisan, neutral redistricting staff submitted their final set of legislative maps to the commission, which would ensure fair representation for the people of Colorado, as they wanted.
But Republican legislative Redistricting Commissioners Hunter Barnett (R) and Aislinn Kottwitz (R) are working with non-disclosing and unregistered GOP operatives lobbying to shove through a last-minute set of maps to the Supreme Court that would fundamentally alter the make-up of the state senate and house, almost certainly ensuring control for Colorado Republicans over the next decade. This is a mockery of everything that Independent Redistricting Commissions are meant to stand for.
Reject maps being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz and support maps drawn by nonpartisan staff.

I realize that the timing of this comment is rather late in the process, nevertheless, I urge the members of the Commission to adopt the Third Staff Plan for both the House of Representatives and the State Senate. My brief review of these maps and supporting documentation suggests that these plans fairly represent voters throughout the state and conform to the criteria voters approved for redistricting. Please adopt this plan.

Any maps being pushed by commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz should be thrown out. As a concerned Colorado citizen I want to see maps that are non-partison (as drawn by nonpartison staff). Any maps that smack of gerrymandering should be trashed.
