I support the maps drawn by the nonpartisan staff and urge the rejection of the maps being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz.

I'm Angie and I live in Littleton unincorporated. I've been living here for 20 years. I'm disappointed in the current 3rd staff map. I ain't sure what the best map would look like, but I think the CLLARO maps would better reflect the community I live in. Thanks Y'all.

I have been told that two Redistricting Commissioners (Barnett and Kottwitz) are submitting a last-minute redistricting proposal. This proposal was not agreed upon by the duly appointed Redistricting Commission as a whole. As a Colorado voter, I voted for a nonpartisan redistricting process precisely to avoid this type of shenanigans. Please disregard the proposal from Mr. Barnett and Ms. Kottwitz. It is an affront to the democratic process that we all hold so dear. Thank you.

Comment:

The nonpartisan commission set up to determine the districting for the state of Colorado was formed to represent everyone equally and fairly, and to AVOID attempts at gerrymandering. The neutral commission as a whole has been working for months to make certain that the redrawn maps were fair and evenly represented. It has come out that GOP members on the commission (Hunter and Kottwitz) have been working on the side with undisclosed lobbyists who are trying to push through a last-minute set of maps that have not had the FULL COMMISSION REVIEW and public input, as has been defined for the redistricting commission. If this is allowed, the time and effort spent the past many months was a complete farce and wasted funding, and the gerrymandering will continue. Elections can be fair by allowing every vote to count, and NOT drawing maps to skew votes one way or the other. It is what we all want and wish for in a fair and open democracy. Thank you for your consideration. P.S. The answer to this is to REJECT any last-minute maps presented by a lobbying group or individual commissioners that have not been subject to the required review by the whole, and ACCEPT the last FINAL set of maps that were presented BY THE COMMISSION.

Comment:

Any attempt by either party to subvert the results of the labor of the Commission's staff should be ignored or stifled. The reason Colorado voters created the Commission is to rid the redistricting process of partisan politics and meddling in the process by political hacks and lobbyists should not be condoned.

Please submit the last set of maps as drawn and don't allow any last-minute GOP gerrymandering by unnamed operatives to throw the whole process out. All of us have worked and waited for fair representation by the non-partisan committee, not something shoved at us by a few of the GOP that will harm us for years to come. Ellen Glover

Comment:

The latest attempts to subvert the mission of the redistricting commission must be stopped. I strongly support the maps generated by the nonpartisan staff. The maps introduced by commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz are exactly the kind of maps we don't want. It is that type of gerrymandering those of us voted to create the redistricting commission wanted to prevent. I strongly urge that those maps as submitted by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz be firmly rejected.

Comment:

The commission must adhere to the rule of law in redistricting. A well funded and last ditch effort by republican members to wrestle control of the state legislature is not only sad, but regrettably the new normal. They can't win at the polls, so now they want to gerrymander districts to impose their radical ideology. The result of the gerrymandering will further an agenda that is not in line with the majority of Coloradoans. Don't Texas my Colorado.
