The proposed redistricting map places the city of Fort Collins with the counties on the Eastern and Southeastern plains. However, the two areas are vastly different. Many of the rural economies of the East rely on extract industries and agriculture. On the other hand, Fort Collins is an urban college area that is home to a research university and high tech companies including solar power and digital industry research. Larimer county is focused on issues such as watershed restoration, climate action, diversity, equity, and urban concerns such as high population growth and homelessness. If one of the goals of the Commission is to preserve whole communities of shared interests and public policy concerns, please reconsider including Fort Collins with the rest of Larimer county.

"Commissioners need to revert back to the Preliminary congressional map and improve it. An attempt was made to entertain a southern congressional district, but it comes at the expense of everyone else in Colorado," said Martini. "There was no testimony provided to the commission that would support the blending of communities as different as Boulder and Craig, but because of the way our population is distributed, the staff is forced to draw these different places into the same district. Las Animas County Landowners agree we do not want this congressional map we need to restart and "First Staff Plan" map is a non-starter for rural Colorado; also ignores agriculture and rural Colorado's unique community of interest by combining it with urban and suburban populations; fails to reflect the differences in water administration, ag industry makeup, and social landscape between eastern and western parts of the state; ignores testimony from around the state regarding desired district lines.

I am against redistricting Ann redrawing districts. The front range already has too much of a voice in policies and politics. The rural communities need to be heard equally.

I protest Routt County and Moffat County being tied to Boulder County. I have lived in Colorado for 20 years and Routt County will suffer huge consequences of being dictated by the front range and our rural way of life.

Please reconsider any proposal to place Fort Collins in a district on the eastern plains. We, in Fort Collins are in a North Front Range urban area, home to a University and a comprehensive transportation district (just formed). We have issues common to the front range like high population growth, ozone and air quality issues etc. We have very little in common with the eastern plains. Please keep Fort Collins in a more urban, front range district. thank you.

Do not take away the voice of rural Colorado. We have been and will always be the backbone that Colorado is built on. Keep our vote strong!

I am simply asking that you fairly divide the maps. Please do not let your personal agenda get in the way of a decision for the people. You all are in a position of power and have the ability to create change so if you must make a decision, please make one that is fair to all parties regardless of which side you stand on.

I am against both. The front range should not have a greater voice at the expense of the rural communities. The front range has more that enough I put in the politics and policies of Colorado.

Comment:

The current redistricting plan ignores the interest of rural Colorado by giving the Denver Metro area an overwhelming advantage, leaving rural areas without a voice in state affairs. Colorado is more than just the Denver Metro area. Give us an equitable share in shaping our congressional landscape.

Comment:

I live in Platteville a rural agriculture, cattle and residential community. It also includes oil and gas as an industry. As a town in Northern Colorado we have unique needs that differ than those of metro Denver. Redistricting would not be beneficial to our community and Northern Colorado. Our community and rural lifestyle and industry should not be directed by those in metro Denver.
