Broomfield became its own county because as a city, it was split among 4 counties. Now the redistricting wants to split the city in half again, we want to stay in the same district.

Broomfield is one community. It belongs in one district. It should not be split. Please don’t split it.

Comment:
Hi I am a resident of Broomfield and am opposed to the current redistricting of Broomfield into two congressional districts. I feel that for a city of this size it should not be divided. In my opinion we belong in the same congressional district as southeast Boulder county.
Thanks

Do not divide our city. Keep Broomfield in one district. We will loose our voice.

My name is Hanna Arauza and I live in Rifle (Garfield County), part of the Greater Roaring Fork Valley. Thank you for incorporating our feedback to develop the legislative maps. I support the proposed House district #57 that keeps the Parachute to Aspen corridor whole. We are a community of interest. We are connected by our regional transportation system. We live and work up and down this valley. Our children compete in school sports against each other, up and down the valley. The Latino community also commutes up and down the valley every day. Please keep the Parachute to Aspen corridor whole in House district #57. On the Senate side, we thank you for also trying to keep us whole. Senate district #5 is almost perfect except for New Castle. New Castle was unfairly carved out of SD5 and moved to SD8. This breaks up the Greater Roaring Fork Valley by excluding a town where Latinos make up 30% percent of the population. If the commission is looking for places to balance population size, it should look to Leadville or Silverthorne. Please keep the Greater Roaring Fork Valley whole in Senate district #5 by adding New Castle back to this district. Thank you for your service.

Broomfield should be one district, one voice. How does Broomfield get a voice/chance if it is split between two districts. Don’t do this.

Comment:
My name is Alyson Meyer Gould. I am a water lawyer and a member of the City of Longmont Water Board. As such, my interest primarily lies with water availability and water management for the City of Longmont. However, to be clear, I am expressing only my personal opinions.
As currently drawn, the First House Staff Plan Map’s District 11 includes the bulk of the City of Longmont, but excludes a corner in the northwest of the City (east of 75th, north of 17th, south of Highway 66, and west of Francis Street; hereafter “Excluded Corner”). Of significance, this Excluded Corner includes McIntosh Lake. The City of Longmont currently holds 60% of the shares in McIntosh Lake, meaning that it is entitled to use 60% of the water stored there. In addition, the City of Longmont may obtain a greater percentage of share-ownership in McIntosh Lake in the future.
By separating the Excluded Corner from the remainder of the City of Longmont, I am concerned that there may be unforeseen complications as far as water management, in particular, as the state moves forward with implementation of the Colorado Water Plan. Accordingly, I respectfully request the Redistricting Commission consider redrawing District 11 to include McIntosh Lake so it is included with the rest of the City of Longmont.
