The current map has the community of Loveland in Congressional District 4. Loveland should be moved back into Congressional District 2 to maintain our community of interest with communities west of I-25. Loveland has strong economic ties with Estes Park and with Fort Collins, which are both in Congressional District 2. Loveland does not have strong economic ties with the communities in District 4. The Arkansas Valley should be moved back into Congressional District 4 with Weld and other Eastern rural communities. This would balance Loveland returning to CD2.

I am writing regarding the revision of the second draft of the Congressional Redistricting map. Please return Loveland to Congressional District 2. Loveland is clearly part of a cohesive geographic and economic community of interest that includes the other communities west of northern Interstate 25, including Fort Collins, Berthoud, Longmont, and Boulder. We are not similar to the rural communities found in Congressional District 4 as delineated in the Draft 2 map. I suggest that the Arkansas Valley communities be returned to Congressional District 4 to balance moving Loveland to CD2. Being geographically and economically connected rural communities to CD4 as shown on the 2nd Draft map, they would be better represented in Congress by the same Representative. Thank you. Broomfield should not be split. This is one county and should be kept together.

Comment:

Placing Broomfield voters in two districts does not please any of us who live in Broomfield. We are a unified smaller community and we must be heard by our representatives. We are a single community of interest.⁰ Reconsider your plans and place Broomfield voters in one district. Thank you.

Comment:

Please reconsider and place Loveland in CD 2 along with the other communities west of I-25. We do not want to be with Weld County. We are not an agricultural area. We have different needs. Please put the Arkansas Valley back in CD 4 where it belongs with agriculture. Moving Loveland to Weld is a ridiculous idea.

I am totally against redistricting. It totally appears it is one sided. Seriously, why is there a necessity? More votes for one party? Please vote no.

I am in favor of creation of the new 8th CD that divides Broomfield at Lowell Blvd. For far too long Broomfield has been combined with Boulder, and as a consequence our interests in Broomfield were overlooked in favor of the more vociferous Boulder. Contrary to other opinions that you have received from the Chair of Broomfield democrats, it is simply not true that all the comments on NextDoor were against splitting Broomfield. Many people think as I do that splitting the district is overdue.

Commissioners, I just counted 186 comments about keeping Broomfield whole. Not one of them says that your current working map showing Broomfield split in two should be approved. This outpouring is the result of a true grassroots movement among Broomfield residents. It is not a copy and paste message. It is people from across the political spectrum warning each other about what is about to happen to us. People texting and calling each other, emailing, posting on Facebook, Nextdoor, and in neighborhood email lists. We know how to do this because we have done it before working together as a community. It is Broomfield residents asking you not to divide our community. Please listen to us and keep Broomfield together.

Comment:

Why are you splitting a new city and county down the middle? Is a small county and if you really need that small amount of votes to ‘Even’ a district you should start balancing the districts again. Redistricting is the process of setting up district lines after reapportionment but this appears to be Gerrymandering and seems to ibe drawing district boundaries to give one party an advantage - appearances matter.

Comment:

I don't think that Broomfield should be divided. Leaving us in the 2nd Congressional District makes the most sense, because our community interests align with the Northwest Metro Area, and not with Weld or Larimer Counties. Please do not divide Broomfield arbitrarily and eliminate our voice with our representative.
