Hello-I had a chance to testify when you were in Steamboat. My main point was to keep the front range and Western Slope separate. I spoke about how ridiculous it is to have an area like Boulder lumped in with Eagle County and Summit County. In short, if a community is on one side of the Continental Divide, it shouldn't be in the same Congressional District as a community on the other side of the Divide. I said this at the Steamboat meeting and got one of the biggest rounds of applause of the night. It's still applicable and the changes you've made since then seem much more political than practical. Please change the map and keep the Western Slope for Western Slope residents.

As a resident of Loveland, I wanted to comment specifically on the "Congressional First Staff Plan" released on 9/3/2021. Loveland and Fort Collins are very closely tied to each other economically and culturally, and so I don't think it makes sense to have them in different districts. I would prefer to see a map that does not split Larimer County into multiple districts.

We are overwhelmingly concerned that Douglas County will end the redistricting process with no competitive congressional or legislative seats. We want to ensure we do not get steamrolled by the GOP for another decade. Most legislative seats in the State House have been held by the GOP the 23 years that we have lived in our home in Douglas County. Our 6th district congressional seat has been held most of the 23 years by the GOP. There seems to be no competitive congressional or legislative seats for the Dems. The redistricting must ensure a fair and effective representation of our interests. Communities east of Douglas County do not share the same interests as our Highlands Ranch community. Highlands Ranch historically was a ranch with agricultural and rural interests. Today the ranch is a suburban metropolis associated with urban, industrial and trade areas. Additionally, Highlands Ranch citizens share public policy concerns such as education, employment, environment, public health, transportation, water needs with issues of demonstrable regional significance Our community public policy concerns are intimately close to the Denver area, East Jefferson County, and West Arapahoe County concerns. We live in Highlands Ranch, Douglas County, and worked in Metro Denver. We shared Denver's public policy. The idea that Douglas County will end the redistricting with no competitive congressional or legislative seats is not fair

The extreme gerrymandering of the Denver area districts makes me think the commission isn't taking the idea of being "independent" very seriously. Those districts, especially district 1, could ge held up by anyone as an example of extreme gerrymandering without any reference to political party. Our country is too divided and non-competitive elections is making it worse. Do your duty.

To the non-partisan committee, I am a resident of Crested Butte, CO and was completely shocked by the proposed redistricting map that would separate north-western Colorado from the rest of the Western slope. The thought of a front range city like Boulder being grouped with NW rural Colorado is ludicrous and grossly unfair for rural Colorado. These hard working rural residents would have no voice at all to issues pertaining to rural , not city matters. Matters of ski areas, small town character and ranching, while they may seem disparate, have more in common than anyone from the front range would know. We need to stick together as a community of similar values, topography, and economy. Please let the western slope stay contiguous and not be diluted by Boulder. Thank you. This is another underhanded way, to Make Colorado just like California. Our son now lives in Delta. The difference on that side if the Mts is amazing. Hardworking,people who did build this country under our CONSTITUTION of the United States, I just hope that this committee will remember who we are and not throw all our election into more chaos, than we already saw. Respectfully, I do not understand why the majority of Douglas County has now been lumped into the proposed CD4 which extends to the CO border as part of the Eastern Plains. At the very least, suburbs of Metro Denver such as Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, and Parker, all of whom are part of the corridor that is merely 20-25 minutes away from Denver should be included in a district that has similar budgeting and legislative needs from a business, education, healthcare, and infrastructure standpoint. I see the budget and governance needs for the Eastern Plains as different, the focus would be more oriented on rural farming and ranching, as it should be in that area. A possible solution could be to take the portion of Arapahoe County that extends far out east and is less populated to CD4, and use that population to draw Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, and Parker into CD6. Alternatively, move Douglas County out of the proposed CD4 and into the proposed CD7, offset that by moving Fremont County and Chaffee County (and Lake County if necessary) out of the proposed CD7 and into the proposed CD3. Then, move Pueblo County, Crowley County, and Otero County out of the proposed CD3 and into the proposed CD4. This option would still allow the South Metro area to stay tethered to the Denver suburbs and not fracture Highlands Ranch down illogical district boundaries. Thank you for your consideration.

Grand County should remain in District 2. Rocky Mountain National Park, an economic driver, spans Grand and Larimer counties. Water from Grand County is diverted to the front range. We need to have a working relationship with front range counties. It makes sense to have us in the same distress Boulder but also the counties west of Grand which include Steamboat as well as ranching areas. I am very happy with the redistricting map. Thanks

I want the redistricting done to the benefit of rural as well as Denver metro citizens. As it stands now, the current proposed map shows a clear bias towards the more urbanized area around Denver. This is patently unfair. Change the redistricting map to show equal concern for the representation of the citizens in rural Colorado.
