We here in Fremont County ARE NOT any part of the Denver area, and DO NOT want to be lumped together. We have our OWN voice and are predominantly conservative Republicans.

I believe the proposed map includes too much southern Colorado rural area into one district. It also appears that the metro districts combined with small areas of rural added in will make any need for representatives visiting them to be unnecessary as the votes are concentered in the larger metro areas meaning that the concerns of rural Colorado will go unanswered.

I oppose the new congressional redistricting. There should not be a change to the west and south slopes of Colorado. I am against these areas becoming part of Denver metro!!

Colorado Congressional Redistricting:
I would like to add my comments to the potential redistricting of Teller County Colorado in which I reside. Teller County is a rural county with people who have major interest in land use, wild life, mining and water issues. Redistricting Teller County to be part of the Jefferson/Denver district does not make sense since we are south of the Palmer Divide and considered southern Colorado. If Teller County would be included in the Jefferson County district our rural voice would be silenced and our representation would be drastically changed.

Comment:
To include Eagle County with Boulder is ludicrous. In the first place they are not remotely near each other. Only contiguous counties should be in the same district. Another cogent point is that people of Boulder have about as much in common with the people of Eagle County as oil has with water. There are many other good reasons why they should not be in the same district, but reasonable facts are irrelevant when the decision is being made strictly for political reasons.

I moved to Grand Junction and I have grown to love the west slope. I have been to other parts of Colorado and I have lived in a big city and I have learned that the western slope is something that defines Colorado. It shows off the beauty of our mountains and the importance of our rivers/water. Farm life, Ranch life, and rural life are somethings that needs to be understood. It is such a different lifestyle compared to the Front Range and it needs to be represented correctly. I am sure if you read these comments you can see that the the commonality of the posts are to keep the west together. Colorado has been my home for many years now I stand with the west slope group and urge the Commission to reconsider the Map and put community interests first.

Redistricting serves only the larger communities. As a member of a small community, our wants are vastly different than those of our neighbors who have made a lifestyle choice different from ours.
The districts should not change for the benefit of serving the larger communities.
The voices of those living in a smaller community will not be heard. They will be absorbed in the noise of the largest voice. Why would you take away our voice?

Comment:
The clearly partisan map completely ignores the directive regarding common interests within districts. To attach Teller county to Jefferson, or any other front range urban area besides El Paso county, where we share a Judicial district, workforce center and numerous social service nonprofits is inappropriate.
If we must be segregated it is only common sense we be joined with similar more rural and small town jurisdictions to our south and west. We have interests in agriculture, mineral extraction ànd other similarities with them that simply do not comport with the dense urban areas of the state. Our elected representation should reflect our shared interests with these communities.
