Comment:

As a resident of the northwest corner of Douglas County, I strongly oppose the 9/15, or 2nd, staff map. This map puts the relatively liberal suburban communities near the north edge of Douglas County in an otherwise very rural district. The priorities of the closer-in communities here are clearly going to be very different from the more rural stretches of the same. It seems like this district would be so red that it would hardly be worth voting in.

Comment:

This districting is not great. Why are you breaking up a small community like Broomfield? Changing this ups Broomfield residents in a poor position. We are already a small group and you are reducing us further. This redistricting unfairly gives rural populations a larger voice.

1. El Paso County should be kept under one congressional district (e.g., CD5) to ensure the shared interests, vision, and goals are not diluted / interrupted by carving out part of the county for political reasons. 2. Splitting CD5 by removing Teller, Freemont, Park, and Chaffee county not only keeps like minded citizens in one congressional district but also dilutes the conservatives representation in those counties by combining them with more progressive minded counties. 3. Counties tend to be comprised of like minded people and therefore when drawing congressional and legislative districts the lines should include whole counties rather than splitting counties 4. Congressional District 5 should not be changed from what it currently encompasses!

Please do not redistrict U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s districts. It’s not right to give her a more liberal district just so that she will be ousted out of office. Also, it’s not right to break up her districts so that they aren’t connected. Please do not take Garfield County away from her in exchange for Boulder County, it’s wrong for you to take her constituents away from her. Thank you

I am a 25 year Broomfield resident. We voted in 2000 to become one city and county. Broomfield is one community of interest. Broomfield residents should not be divided up as in the current proposal across 2 CD's. Keep Broomfield one in one CD.

Please do not divide Broomfield. We are one county. We deserve to stay together as one voice.

I do not feel that we need redistricting. It isn’t fair to the rural areas to be lumped in with Boulder or the more populated areas. It needs to stay as it is so that the rural population voice will still be heard. City people and rural people don’t think the sam, they have totally different lives and should not be lumped together. All voices need to be heard. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to voice my opinion.

Comment:

The September 15 redistricting proposal violates the commissions charter by ignoring geography, economics and history by cleaving Loveland off as the largest part of Larimer county to be part of the congressional 4 district. Rural counties where ranching, agriculture and oil predominate don’t have the same interests at heart as Loveland. Please maintain the integrity of redistricting by matching Loveland with communities of similar interest in CD2 or CD8. Sincerely, Molly Gruttemeyer

Hello - Broomfield is one community of interest. Splitting Broomfield in two would be detrimental to our community and I strongly urge you to reconsider moving forward with this. It would hurt Broomfield residents and I know many of my neighbors feel the same as I do.

Having Boulder in north west district is just plan stupid. They have nothing in common with western slope. It needs to be taken out.
