Lakewood shares very little in common with Douglas County and should not be subject to redistricting.

I am a Lakewood resident that wants to remain in a district with Arvada and Wheat Ridge. Please do not move Lakewood to Douglas County. We have very little in common with that area.

Please keep Lakewood in the same congressional district as other communities in our county (Jefferson) like Wheat Ridge.

Lakewood is connected by a community of interest, geography, and history to other municipalities in Jefferson County, such as Arvada and Wheat Ridge. We are part of the gateway to the mountain communities and beyond in the west metro area. We have a long and rich history of diversity. We share common concerns about development and redevelopment, public transportation, and many other infrastructure issues. We are part of the service area of Denver Water and, along with many other Jeffco municipalities, are served by distributor agreements with Denver Water. The numerous municipal boundaries between Jeffco municipalities encourage and require intergovernmental cooperation, so there are numerous intergovernmental agreements in place between and among those municipalities. We all have common benefits and concerns stemming from a significant federal government presence in this part of Jefferson County. It's inconceivable that we would have anything in common with Douglas County on any of these or other issues. Pulling Lakewood away from its Jeffco municipal partners would dilute Lakewood's ability to have its community concerns heard, and Lakewood's concerns and priorities are NOT congruent with those of Douglas County.

I have lived in Greeley since 1987 and watched it grow from a conservative ag-focused city of 60,000 to one of the fastest growing mid-size cities in the United States. Greeley has few things in common with the eastern plains, which CD-4 encompasses. The population is much more diverse, and I like the possibility of a district that reflects that. Because of the growth, Greeley has more in common with cities in Adams County, such as Thornton; Broomfield and Broomfield County; and with Longmont and Erie, in Boulder and Weld, respectfully. It's frustrating, really, to be in CD-4. While Weld County is mired in good-old-boy politics, Greeley is growing and taking an active role in transportation, energy, water management, and environmental issues. We deserve to have a representative and congressional district that reflects our population and drives federal legislation, grants and programs that are in everyone's best interests.

Comment:

Lakewood should not be included with Douglas County, now or ever. Lakewood does not share the same values as Douglas County, not even close. Lakewood is embarrassed by DougCo, and holds the values of Jefferson County and the front range communities that we hold dear.

Please do not put Lakewood in with Douglas county. We share nothing with them and would be better off staying with Arvada.

I’m concerned that the city of Lakewood is currently being considered to be put in a district combined with Douglas County, when demographically and politically, we as a city and a county (Jefferson) at large have much more in common with our JeffCo neighbors Wheatridge and Arvada.

Comment:

Lakewood should remain with communities like Arvada and Wheat Ridge, for which we are most common. Do not pair Lakewood or Jefferson County with Douglas County...we are not similar communities and do not have enough in common to be considered the same district.
