I do not agree that Lakewood should be redirected and combined with Douglas County.

My name is Cassie Kimbrell and I live in Woodland Park, which is in Teller County. I am writing to the Congressional Redistricting Commission and requesting that Teller County would be considered as rural mountain and mining community, much like the Western Slope, instead of the city or Front Range. We have agriculture, wildlife, and historical. Thank you for this opportunity to comment on the Congressional Redistricting Commission.

My family has been living in Lakewood, Jefferson County for close to 20 years. Please oh please don't put us in a voting district with Douglas County, we have nothing in common, and most people in Jeff Co would surely be upset about this. Personally, i would feel disenfranchised.

Thank you for your commitment to redistricting and considering a new 8th congressional district. I believe Longmont needs to be within a district that better represents the policies and values of Longmont and comparable cities holding those same values and concerns. Longmont residents are concerned about air quality and environmental issues. We do not agree with Weld County's oil and gas drilling policies which have significantly increased Longmont's poor air quality. Longmont supports environmental responsibility and sustainability. We do not believe Weld County, Greeley or Ken Buck represent these same values. We believe in increasing public transportation such as expansion of the northwest rail or another type of high speed rail along the Front Range. Citizens in Longmont cherish and support our parks, outdoor recreation and open space. Longmont would like a whole city representation, not a city that is currently divided into two counties. Currently there are regional differences based on conservative versus moderate/progressive policy. As a city predominantly in Boulder County, I believe we align more with the values of those cities being considered for a new district than those in Greeley or Weld County. As you consider creating a new congressional and legislative district, matching Longmont to those other communities with similar values and policies would allow Longmont to be better represented.

Lakewood has much more in common with Wheat Ridge & Arvada because we share a similar area & JeffCo values. We do not belong with Douglas County.

Lakewood does NOT belong in the same district as Douglas County! We are a diverse community with many mixed race, mixed culture and mixed religion families. My own family is all three of those! We deserve to have our minority voices heard. Putting a demographic like Lakewood with such a homogeneous community as DougCo would silence minority voices. We've lived in Lakewood for five years and I worked for JCMH - the nonprofit mental health service provider for Jeffco- for three years. We're proud Jeffco residents. NO to lumping Lakewood in with DougCo!

As a resident of Greeley, I agree with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce that an 8th Congressional District should be formed north and northeast of Denver, encompassing Niwot, Erie, Longmont and Greeley. The interests of the Hispanic community have long been ignored in the 4th Congressional District. In Greeley, as of 2018, 1/3 of the population was white (Hispanic) with other persons of color increasing that percentage to almost 40%. These communities need to have representation, and Greeley has more in common with Longmont, Niwot, and Adams County than it does with eastern Colorado. I was a public school teacher in the Weld County District 6 school system for many years and, as a Title 1 reading teacher, was privileged to teach in several of the schools that would be classified as lower socioeconomic areas. The parents were interested in healthy, safe, and strong communities and schools. JBS and gas and oil have dominated the landscape for too long. There needs to be a commitment to creating an environment where safe and sustainable jobs are the norm, and where community stability and housing are a priority. Creating the 8th Congressional District in this location would go a long way to achieving these goals by electing a representative who listened to the people and represented their interests.

Hello, I am commenting the new redistricting effort for the State (Douglas County). As a person who lives more rurally, I strongly believe that Douglas County should be treated as one county with similar issues for all involved. Douglas county is rapidly building out and issues of infrastructure, business, services, and more are closely aligned between the suburban and rural areas of Dougco than areas east of us. The counties to the east have very different challenges and groups of people than the whole of Douglas county. Please in your efforts, try to take these comments into account and keep Douglas county whole not spilt up with with dissimilar eastern counties. Thank you, Eugene Hawley

Please do not allow Lakewood to join Douglas County. This redistributing effort is a thinly valued attempt by the CO GOP to gain an upper hand. Please don’t allow this to proceed.
