Dear Congressional Commission, My name is Kim Hoff and I live in Longmont, CO. I came to Colorado more than a decade ago, and lived in Colorado Springs for several years before moving to Boulder County. Longmont is one of the fastest-growing communities in the Denver metro area, with an ethnically, socioeconomically, and politically diverse population. The current district boundaries make us part of CD4 along with most of the Eastern Plains. Only a small portion of the city lies in Weld County, and we have stronger political and economic links to both Fort Collins and Boulder. As our city grows, we hope that our congressional representation will better reflect Longmont's population. Please consider our city as a whole, and its relationships to other communities within the state, when determining which Congressional district it should reside in for the next decade of its history. Thank you for your time and attention. I am available for further comment at any time if you would care to discuss this issue further. Sincerely, Kim Hoff

It is important that all voters voices are heard in El Paso County. As one of the largest counties in Colorado by population, it is important to allow communities within the county to be represented fairly. Creating one District in El Paso county would silence a considerably diverse county. This proposal is gerrymandering. The southwest portion of the county includes many minority communities that need their concerns to be represented and heard. Manipulating redistribution process to attain power by one party is not the purpose for this task. The northern segment of the county holds a concentrated population of upper class, religiously conservative people, who frequently try to minimize voices of diversity in El Paso county. It is imperative that a division based on population growth and distribution be the priority of the commission. Lumping nearly 750,000 people into one district silences many voices and is not a fair representation of the community.

Dear Congressional Commission: I am a life time resident of Commerce City, Colorado in Adams County. Our community has many challenges with education, pollution, and water. We have a wildlife refuge which came about due to toxic waste in the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. Since we have a diverse population and diverse challenges it is my hope that redistricting will be as fair and equitable as can be expected during these trying times. Theresa Ortega

I would like to advocate for an additional priority to be added to your list: It is imperative that racial minorities (Black, indigenous, and other people of color) be given top consideration. These groups have long been neglected in our politics. Thanks for your consideration and good work. Timothy Bailey

I feel strongly that all redistricting in Colorado be analyzed by a nonpartisan mathematics team to ensure that the racial, ethnic, and political diversity represented by our districts accurately reflects the racial, ethnic, and political diversity of our great state. I don’t expect all my representatives to be mathematicians, but I do expect you to take guidance from nonpartisan experts in all decisions, and especially this one.

Dear Legislative Redistricting Commission members, My name is Kelly Murphy and I live in unincorporated Eagle County in the Roaring Fork Valley. I'm a third-generation Coloradan and have lived in the Valley on and off since 1987. My family moved back to the Valley from the Front Range in 2014 so we could raise our son in a mountain community. What I love about my community is its natural beauty, hard-working and friendly people, and visitors from all over the world. However, being a resort community, we are facing numerous challenges including a dearth of affordable housing, escalating health-insurance and health-care costs, and increasing drought and fire danger. Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic has exacerbated the housing crisis, drastically inflating our already high housing prices and cost of living. The Roaring Fork Valley is a unique place, encompassing three counties and several municipalities, yet we are one resort community. My house is in a sliver of Eagle County that sits between Pitkin and Garfield counties. I live in one county and work in another, and go to the hospital in yet another. I'm writing to ask that you keep the Roaring Fork Valley, from Aspen to Glenwood Springs together in one district in both the Congressional and Legislative redistricting processes. We are one community with shared interests and challenges. Thank you for the opportunity to submit this feedback on behalf of my community. If you have any questions regarding my testimony, please contact me anytime. Sincerely, Kelly Murphy

Using skin color as a factor in redistricting is wrong, probably illegal snd likely unconstitutional. Packing or cracking based on color is racist. Doni do it.

Dear Congressional Commission, I urge you to ensure that the City of Westminster is not split between two districts. City unity is already strained by lying in two counties. Further splits would be detrimental. Thank you, Tom Jurgens Westminster resident.

Hello, Hope you are all well. I've been living in Vail for 36 years so guess i can be considered a long term local -though some still think only if you're born here. During that time the mtn communities of Vail and it's surroundings have grown considerably. Vail's growth is largely based on tourism driven by the outdoors -pursuits and beauty- and like all people we have a hard time balancing the future against the here and now. I think we as a community understand our trade offs of environmental preservation versus rapid growth and what makes our mtn communities special and attractive to live in and visit. It would make sense to view mtn towns with a large tourism bias as a unique communities and represented as such instead of being lumped in with rural non tourism or frontrange communities. Thanks Alan Braunholtz
