I am in favor of the Schuster map! As a resident of Grand Junction I instantly jive the idea of being in the same district with Ft Collins as a sister city with very much in common as a smaller urban area, university town, surrounded by rural and in many ways isolated. Uniting the entire southern region feels like it addresses their cultural shared interests. Most importantly for me is that their are 3 competitive districts with the Schuster map! This is fantastic because the more balanced a district is the more that it’s representatives have to listen to all of their constituents. Thank you!

As a new Colorado resident, I am writing to urge that Loveland to be moved back into Congressional District 2 to maintain our community of interest with communities west of I-25. The community interests west of I-25 more closely reflect the suburban and growing population. In order to balance districts, I suggest that the Commission move the Arkansas Valley back into Congressional District 4 with Weld and the other Eastern rural communities. This change will balance Loveland returning to CD2.

Dear Ma’am’s and Sirs, I support the Schuster map because it is the true bipartisan approach that will create three competitive districts. Has a Gunnison resident I feel this is the fairest alternative. Thank you, Bryan Miller

I support the Schuster map. It keeps our CD3 communities intact. It also keeps the district competitive, which I feel is very important. Greg

I would like to understand more specifics on the portion of Eagle Co that is in CD3 in the latest iteration of the congressional maps. Eg, I live in Basalt in Eagle Co… is this in Cd3? Also, I am not clear how El Jebel is split between cd2 and Cd3.

As a long time resident of Montrose County, I am disheartened to learn that the redistricting commission is considering a CD3 map which is in complete contradiction to the principal goal of the new commission; to facilitate and create competitive congressional districts. This is why we Coloradans voted for the non-partisan commission and what we expect it to uphold. To that end, I want to encourage the commission to strongly favor the Schuster Map in its decision. This map creates three highly competitive districts while also joining areas of common interests; Mesa/ Garfield/ Larimer counties , San Luis Valley and Pueblo counties and Eagle/Vail/Glenwood/Aspen. Please give the Schuster Map your highest priority in your redistricting consideration of CD3. Thank You, Jane Goldman Montrose, Colorado

I would like to comment in favor of the Schuster map that you looked at in your meeting last night. It creates two competitive west slope districts instead of one ridiculously uncompetitive one. In addition, the West Slope would have two reps standing up for our interests instead of just one, a fact that the nakedly political lobbying by several commission members for one west slope district conveniently ignores. It seems to do a good job of keeping the Roaring Fork together as well as the San Luis/Pueblo combo and the Mesa/Garfield combo. Al Lowande, unaffiliated West Slope voter

District 4 is a rural area with interests in ranching, farming, and other agricultural pursuits. Loveland, my city, is more urban & closely connected by Ft. Collins. Driving between Loveland and Ft. Collins, the only way to tell you are entering a new community (besides a sign) is some open space we worked to preserve over the last 30 years so it wouldn’t be one solid stretch of city. Fort Collins has CSU and Loveland has the arts, with a beautiful large sculpture park. Loveland hosts the largest outdoor sculpture show in the country and we have sculptures all over our community. If you have not been to Loveland, I suggest you visit, to see the sculpture, visit the booming downtown and shop at the many stores both downtown and to the east at the I-25 intersection. We are definitely an urban area and belong in Congressional District 2 along with Ft. Collins and Estes Park. Shifting a different area, like the Arkansas Valley, with more rural interests into Dist. 4 would make more sense.

The Schuster map meets the goals for populations of interest in CD3 and beyond and makes it a fair but competitive district. I believe this is option is better than other map versions. Thank you for your consideration.

I would like to understand how the Town of el jebel is split. technically it isn’t even a town, but I am not clear what part of Eagle co goes into Cd3.
