The Third Staff Plan for Colorado Congressional District 2 meets the goals of meeting shared community interests and public policy concerns for the counties included. The mountain communities which depend on both summer, fall and winter recreation are able to unite in protecting their community interests. The high mountain agricultural interests including the protection of water sheds are reflected in the counties which are included. Finally, the states two largest Universities can continue to unite with their shared interests and public policy concerns. As a resident of Routt County, I support this map.

What is important to our community is representation from those we voted for. Please do not change the districts until the 2022 elections. It is unfair for voters to have a representative we do not belief in or have respect for. I understand change is necessary due to changes in population numbers; you need to understand that the change should come at the time of elections so we can vote for the representatives that we represent us and our beliefs and values.... Thank you, Lenora Bohren

My name is Charles T Holley (Tom) and I am a registered voter in South Routt County, CO living near Oak Creek. By splitting CD3 with the Continental Divide you are also splitting the unique Water and Federal Lands interests. Emphasis on “Unique”. The western slope’s relationship with water, by itself, create its own community of interest unless this committee’s goal is for the front range to make all decisions about these water sheds. Or are you saying the front range environmentalists are more “in-tune” with Ranchers, Farmers and the generational wisdom and teamwork of Western Slope experts. Aligning the Western Slope water needs with the front range demands do not belong in the same district, period. The Continental Divide should be your guide here. The common COMMUNITY interests that the Western Slope shares with water relies on experienced, well-informed, boots on the ground congressional representatives and state legislators that will protect the community’s water at both the state and federal level. Dividing the Western Slope would successfully compromise the outstanding generational leadership used to properly steward these regional interests. Stewarding Federally Owned lands are also challenges the front range counties don’t experience, just look at the attachment of stark differences of responsibilities of Federally owned lands and it should be obvious. This is a clear divide from the front range making the Western Slope highly involved in Federal issues. For the most part, the Western Slope tax bases are not similar to the front range but we are still responsible to providing essential government services such as public schools, road care, bridge care, medical care. The Federally Owned lands are maintained by the communities that live closest to them, live in them, graze them, hunt them. The Western Slope knows best how to care for these lands and water and certainly don’t need folks that have to day-to-day concept have a say in this. Front Range has their own water and grasslands to fight over. Thank you for your time. Please use your June 23 map and DO NOT use your latest Sept. 26th map. Where is the un-biased builders that cannot see the 10+ years of damage putting Boulder and Larimer Counties in the Western Slope!

I attended the public meeting at Golden High School regarding redistricting this summer where the majority of speakers advocated to keep the current House District 24 intact. These speakers (with whom I agreed) included the Golden Mayor, the former Golden Mayor and a former County Commissioners who have considerable knowledge and experience in addressing the needs of the Jefferson County communities within House District 24. I urge the commission to revisit the many arguments made over more than two hours to consider the common values and similarities of the Wheat Ridge and Golden communities so that we can elect leaders who are best equipped to address our challenges. We need a congressional district composed of the Wheat Ridge and Golden communities which have worked very well together as mid-sized cities in Jefferson County. The issues these cities face are very similar and their respective sizes give them a good balance in a legislative district so they're not drowned out by a larger city such as Lakewood or Arvada. Keeping Golden and Wheat Ridge together would help make the district more compact instead of having the offshoot into northern Arvada and Coal Creek Canyon.

Eagle county needs to stay in CD3 district and not split with CD2. Our district in Eagle has totally different interests and requirements than Boulder. This split would be totally political and not effective.

Tafoya Workshop Adjusted Amendment (Tafoya Amendment 2) - Part of Dougco in CD6. I believe you could dip into Dougco to add population to CD6 via Highlands Ranch. This would keep Parker whole. Highlands Ranch is unincorporated Dougco. The County Commissioners run this area. It has a local "HOA Board" that addresses local issues. It does not have a Mayor and Town Council like Parker. So governmental challenges in Highlands Ranch are less. Therefore, splitting HR into CD4 and CD6 would not be as problematic.

Together with my collaborators Daryl DeFord, Beth Malmskog, and Flavia Sancier-Barbosa, we have written a report and posted it to our website at https://coloradoincontext.wordpress.com/. This report was requested by the Independent Legislative Redistricting Commission and is focused on an ensemble analysis for the State Senate and House districts. It also includes a comparison of the ensemble to the First and Second Staff Plans.

Please keep Eagle County in CD3. We have nothing in common with Boulder.
