Comment:

When the US developed our system of government, we seemed deliberate and intentional in giving as much voice to the very diverse groups in our nation. The Senate was sure to represent each state equally but the House represented the population. These redistricting plans do neither but they dilute the rural voice with an urban voice. There is very little common in those two subgroups of Colorado. Rural Colorado chooses this lifestyle for it’s many attributes, few services and independent perspective. Urban Colorado values the ability to travel to these areas but still return to the Front Range for work on Monday. A Sunday drive on I-70 demonstrates this diversity perfectly. Please allow our various populations the opportunity to represent themselves. It harkens back to taxation without representation! Thank you for the consideration TSM

Comment:

I am strongly opposed to this proposed congressional redistricting map because it moves Fort Collins out of Larimer County and puts it into the same district as much of eastern CO. Moving the county seat out of the same congressional district as the rest of the county will result in a number of confusing policy and governing processes. Fort Collins is also home to the state's Land Grant University, which is the largest economic driver of the community. We have much more in common as both a community and a county with others along the Front Range than anything in the eastern portion of the state. Expecting anyone to appropriately represent the interests of voters in both Fort Collins and those along the eastern portions of the state is not realistic.

The way the districts are should stay the same. I think that it is being changed so that a certain party can get their hands on the rest of the state. Our community mostly support people who follow the constitution in which most of the eastern slope politicians do not and want to steal elections like they did in 2020. The eastern slope politicians does not have morals and honesty like most of the politicians on the western slope. There are a few exceptions in the western slope politicians does not have morals and find any way to take the elections for the democrats. I am a un-affiliated constituent but I do not like the dishonest politicians like most of the eastern slope have like the governor of Colorado.

No thanks to the numerous population of the Denver metro area, now we have even a smaller voice in our governing. We live in the Spanish Peaks area of Southern CO on the scenic route referred to as the “Highway of Legends. There is little to no water here and we need more economic stimulation down here.

CO District 5 should encompass all of El Paso and Teller counties.

Comment:

As a rural Coloradan, I am disappointed in the first staff map proposed that splits the Western slope into 2 separate districts. This divides communities of interest, and dilutes the impact of rural, agricultural Colorado. I strongly encourage the commission to return to the preliminary map which unified the rural voices into 2 strong districts.

Be sure that the re-drawn districts give a fair showing to those of us who live and produce in rural Colorado.

I am not in support of re-districting, neither the Congressional or Legislative.

Comment:

Even a casual inspection of the proposed redistricting shows that Democrats are getting safe districts while Republicans are being thrown to the wolves. So much for the myth of a non-partisan "independent" commission to handle re-districting.

Please do not complicate what should be a simple process. District/Legislate by County lines. Counties are governed and taxed as one, correct?
