I and my rural community are concerned about the redistricting map presented on September 3, 2021. We do not want to be represented by the front range community. The majority of people in the front range have no interest in the northeastern part of Colorado and they should have no say in our economy, agricultural, community or our way of life.

Comment:

The commissioners have put the interests of the urban Front Range first by diluting the voice of rural Colorado and completely changed the map from the first preliminary Congressional maps released in June that were the subject of 36 hearings across the state. This map prioritizes the interests of the Denver Metro (other than Republican Douglas County) and targets the voices of rural Coloradans. The commission also chose to split up the Western Slope, despite the voices of the people who live there. This is not a fair redistricting option.

My community does not want nor did we vote for L. Boebart. I request that Grand County is not redistricted to have her representing us.

Comment:

Lauren Boebert is a vile, divisive human, not who we voted for, and not who should represent Grand County in Colorado. Do not redistrict Grand County with the western slope under her purview. They voted for her; they can keep her.

I am very concerned about the new redistricting map presented on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021. I do not think a representative from FT.Collins understands the rural and agriculture needs of Northeastern Colorado nor do I think they are interested in how important agriculture is to Colorado's economy.

Comment:

I feel that thru this legislation it is another way to push an elected voice out of the way. Lauren Boebert is doing a great job and is therefore a threat to the establishment. This remapping should not be happening.

I am against this redistributing, as it will push out people whom we have voted in.

I am an Hispanic voter on the western slope of Colorado. Your currently proposed District 2 change is directly adverse to the voters on the western slope of Colorado and namely myself and the Hispanic population. You are carving out our rural community and adding it to Boulder. That is not what we want here on the western slope. As a Hispanic voter you are making us count less for the benefit of the larger eastern slope cities. Please do not make us less. Thank you, Ted Valerio Registered Colorado Voter

Comment:

I have lived in Larimer County for over 50 years and enjoy very similar interests with other county residents that live in both Ft. Collins and Estes Park. We chose to be in and around the foothills because we enjoy the natural geography in RMNP and the many mountains, rivers, lakes and abundant wildlife around this County. The residents of Ft. Collins care about open space preservation, national park protection, environmental conservation/protection and clean air and water. Re-districting Ft. Collins with Weld County does not make any sense with Weld’s dependence on extractive industries like oil and gas while Ft. Collins suffers from those effects with non-compliance of EPA limits on ozone. Weld County is also largely agricultural with feedlots/slaughterhouses while Ft. Collins has an extensive tourism industry with breweries, outdoor activities and hiking/recreation with many attractions for visitors to camp and fish and enjoy the great outdoors. The contrast between Ft. Collins and Weld is large including their economies, cultural interests and public urban concerns such as homelessness, watershed restoration, climate change, equity and diversity, air quality issues and high population growth. Ft. Collins addresses these concerns much like the rest of Larimer County and Boulder County. Weld County does not and it would be impossible for a representative to hear similar interests from all constituents. Ft. Collins residents are concerned for the preservation and enjoyment of the land and must prioritize forest management due to climate change and the potential increase of forest fires. Weld County is on the open prairie and mainly concerned with the land for oil/gas extraction and not about their water and air quality. Ft. Collins and Weld County are separated by a major Colorado interstate running north and south and they vary widely in public policy concerns, economy and tourism and environmental concerns. Ft. Collins clearly does not belong in the same district as Weld County now or anytime in the future.

Comment:

Douglas County should not be considered a rural county. It is part of the Denver metropolitan area and should be included in an urban district. We identify with urban concerns not rural concerns.
