Dear Commissioners, I am writing in regards to the third Legislative map released in the Colorado Redistricting process. Once again, I am shocked at the proposed maps for the Senate and House Districts. It is like the staff can’t figure things out so they made this Hodge Podge collection of Counties. This map makes little sense. Delta County MUST be kept whole and placed in a Senate and House District with Mesa County. Period. Anything else is mixing and matching to disenfranchise the people of Delta and Mesa Counties. Consider the following for the Senate Redistricting: 1) Put Delta County with Mesa County in SD7. 2) Put all of Montrose County in SD 6. 3) Put Saguache County in SD 5. For the House Redistricting: 1) Put all of Delta County in HD 54. 2) Put Pitkin County in HD 58. 3) Put San Juan County in HD 58. You need to stop splitting the rural Counties. This dilutes our voices and ultimately disenfranchises us. This is supposed to be a more representative process. I implore you to strongly consider these comments David Bradford

I am writing to the Commission to urgently request that the members majorly take a stand for transparency by rejecting any maps that could be tarnished by the ongoing, unreported lobbying to gerrymander legislative districts in favor of the GOP. Please do not accept any last-minute attempts to support maps that were not drawn by the Commission's nonpartisan staff or maps that maintain a majority of support among the Commission. Please remain fair to the independent character of our state's redistricting process.

Comment:

The non-partisan, neutral redistricting staff has submitted their final set of legislative maps to the Legislative Redistricting Commission. Those maps represent fair representation for the people of Colorado. I understand that two of the commissioners are working with non-disclosed and unregistered operatives lobbying to alter the maps that have been submitted. I object to those shenanigans. The Independent Redistricting Commission was formed for a purpose. Undermining that purpose is an affront to our democracy. The people of Colorado deserve better.

Please reject map gerrymandering & lobbying changes being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz and their unreported lobbying groups. DO support the maps drawn by the nonpartisan Commission staff!!!!! Thanks for your hard work. CO must NOT be listening to these two Commissioners and their unreported lobbying to gerrymander the existing maps for the GOP.

Please stay nonpartisan. Reject any maps proposed by Commissioners Brown and Kollewitz that unfairly advantage Republican legislators. Colorado’s Senate and House are Democratic because they got the most votes and best represent their constituents. Kim Womantree Lakewood, CO 7208095329

Take a stand for full transparency. REJECT the unethical maps that in no way represent the will of the people created by Barnett and Kottwitz. I support maps by the non by partisan staff. Cpa for a school district is required to be transparent then so should they!!!

Comment:

10/8/2021 Commissioners It has been brought to my attention that two Republican members of the commission are trying to undermined the redrawing of of the new Congressional districts in which the majority of members reached the requirement to recommend the map to the Colorado supreme Court for final adoption. As a Coloradan who is proud of our election system and the structure of our non-partisan commission for redistricting, the idea of a few people attempting to undercut the hard work of commissioners is anathema to fairness and will erode the confidence Coloradans have placed in this fair, balance exercise to make sure we maintain the balance of power of our Congressional representatives. Please do not allow this miscarriage to occur. Respectfully, Peter A Waggoner Centennial Colorado

Hello, My name is Daniel Flynn and I have lived in Lakewood since May of this year. I am disappointed with the 3rd staff map and believe the CLLARO maps are better because they are the most fair and better reflect the community I live in. Best, Daniel Flynn

AS far as I can tell you have cut Lakewood into 3 districts. That is so WRONG

I understand there is a last minute effort by two Redistricting Commissioners to push through maps that would favor Republican control of our state legislature. This is not ok - these two commissioners are working with unregistered GOP operatives lobbying to push through maps outside of the normal process. Please reject maps being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz and support maps drawn by nonpartisan staff. Thank you.
