Fort Collins should not be included with the Eastern Plains for all the reasons that other commentators have provided. Fort Collins should stay in district 2 or be moved to the new district 8 as some commentators have suggested. I do not think it is appropriate for citizens to expect that maps drawn by a few people should override the work of the commission that has spent enormous time and effort getting public comment, complying to law and analyzing the data. I am referring specifically to the "club 20" map. Having read and listened to the concerns of the residents of the Western Slope and Eastern Plains and reviewed the low population count of those areas, is it possible to do a "U" shaped rural district that combines all the low population counties into one district?

We are writing in great opposition to the current redistricting proposal that moves the City of Fort Collins to District 4, which negatively impacts Larimer County's communities of interest and political boundaries. Fort Collins is very different from the Eastern plains and this proposal moves the county seat into a different Congressional District than the rest of the county. Fort Collins is a North Front Range urban area that is home to high tech companies, a tier one research university, and a robust Multi Modal Transportation system that includes transit, EV infrastructure, and Bus Rapid Transit. We would have very little in common with neighbors to the East, and especially those in the extreme Southeast Corner of our state. Fort Collins is over 300 miles away from Campo in Baca county, and our needs as communities are so very different. In Larimer County we are focused on issues like wildfire mitigation, watershed restoration, multi-modal connections, climate action, equity and diversity, and dealing with urban issues like homelessness, high population growth, ozone nonattainment, and air quality issues, etc. We have much more in common with counties like Boulder County. Fort Collins has a very different economy than those areas in CD4 and would not represent the population living in such a rural, agricultural district. As residents of Fort Collins, we are adamantly opposed to this proposed move to CD4. We request that this proposal be reconsidered and that Fort Collins remains in District 2.

Comment:

This map is terrible. Rural Colorado needs more of a voice for Rural Colorado why would there be major populated cities that control rule Colorado? Agriculture is a big part of the state. Boulder and Fort Collins need to be in their own district together not in rural Colorado district they know nothing about agriculture.

I am adamantly opposed to the redistricting of Larimer county. Ken Buck does not represent who and what Larimer county needs. The current counties he represents are very much in line with the oil and gas industry which is what Larimer county is trying to get away from. I worry his representation will take us backwards from the strides we have made towards clean, green energy which aligns us more with Boulder County. Our economy is very different from the rural counties out east. Our industries are high tech, solar power installers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, digital industry researchers which do not exist to our east and makes us align much more with Boulder County. We are urban like Boulder county with high population growth and our population is very culturally diverse. We are also very much focused on issues related to homelessness, climate change, and equality which is very different from the rural communities out east. Joe Neguse has represented Larimer county and our progressive values and economy. Why change something that isn’t broken. Thank you

Proposal is to cut Ft Collins out of Larimer and put it into a district with the eastern plains of CO Comment Do not cut Ft Collins out of Larimer and put it into a district with the eastern plains of CO Reasons-Fort Collins is very different from the Eastern plains. Specifically, we have very different economies. Fort Collins has an extensive tourism industry, with breweries, music festivals and biking. Tourists are not likely to wish to visit Greeley or other towns to our east. Fort Collins has a large University which is a major driver of our economy. The University feeds the many high-tech local industries, including solar power installers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, digital industry researchers etc. None of these industries exist to our east. Boulder County has many similar industries and educational bases. In Larimer County we are focused on issues like wildfire mitigation, watershed restoration, multi-modal connections, climate action, equity and diversity, and dealing with urban issues like homelessness, high population growth, ozone non-attainment, and air quality issues. In contrast, Weld County relies on extractive industries, (oil and gas) and agriculture. How could a future representative possibly represent such diverse communities as Fort Collins and the Eastern Plains?

Following our ensemble analysis presentations to both commissions, we have written a report and posted it to our website at https://coloradoincontext.wordpress.com/. This report is focused on an ensemble analysis for the Congressional districts and includes a comparison of the ensemble to the First Staff Plan.

I'am pleased with the redistributing map making the district fair with 50/50 split of Republican and Democrat voters.

Request change to proposed CD of Douglas County Douglas County has been paired with rural Colorado counties, Limon, La Junta, Burlington, and Ft Collins. Douglas County IS NOT a rural county, it is a full member of the high population Denver metro area. Thank you.
