I’m writing as a resident of Wind Crest retirement community in Highlands Ranch. In the most recent preliminary legislative district map, I was dismayed to see our retirement community split into two districts.. We are a retirement community of very active engaged senior citizens. As a close community I would like you to review how you are splitting our retirement community between District 22 and District 33. We are one community of active seniors who live, eat, play and engage in activities together. It is important that our community remain as “one” unified legislative district. What is the purpose of dividing our wonderful neighborhood. Please reconsider this redistricting and make sure that the Wind Crest retirement community be included within only one legislative district, and not two separate districts as is currently proposed. This action is creating a lot of stress and confusion among my neighbors, we want to continue to be engaged as a retirement community in political activities. Thank you, Phillippa Greathouse Highlands Ranch, co 80129 (submitted by email 7/28/21)

In the preliminary legislative district map it appears that the Wind Crest retirement community is divided between District 22 and District 33. In terms of trying to group communitiesof interest within a district this would seem to be a problem. Wind Crest is a campus environment where Seniors live, eat and participate in activities together. Dividing it down the middle will create nothing but conflict and confusion for political figurestrying to address the needs of this community much less trying to communicate which political figures represent us. Thank you for reconsidering the lines between District 22 and 33. (submitted by email 7/28/21)

To split Erickson Senior Living into two districts is a really bad idea and would cause confusion and disorientation as well as splitting our voting blocks. Our seniors live in one community spanning the canal and should be in one district. (submitted by email 7/28/21)

Thank you for your time and work on this issue. I urge you not to split the Wind Crest legislative district. Two different precincts would require Wind Crest to host two separate caucus meetings for each election season and would create unnecessary confusion for the residents of this senior community of very active voters who are and want to continue to be engaged in political activities. Many thanks for your consideration. Joan Chambers Resident of Wind Crest Highlands Ranch, Co 80129-2475 (submitted by email 7/28/21)

Thanks for doing this difficult work. I live in a Sr. community which is now one district and have been told there is consideration of splitting this community into 2 districts. I request this remain one district. It makes more sense in many ways .. Thanks for your help and wisdom. Libby Bortz (submitted by email 7/28/21)

Inthe most recent preliminary legislative district map, I notice that theWind Crest campus would be split between District 22 and District 33. I am a resident of Wind Crest retirement community in Highlands Ranch, a community of senior folks who live, eat and do activities throughout the campus. We also are very active voters. Having our community located in two districts would create confusion among a group of people who are and want to continue to be engaged in political activities. Thank you for your time and for your work on this important issue. Dori Painter (submitted by email 7/28/21)

Good morning, I am a resident of the Wind Crest retirement community in Highlands Ranch, currently in Precinct 201. It has come to my attention that the proposed redistricting map will divide our community into two precincts, with the High Line Canal as the dividing line. I would ask you to please reconsider this particular change, as I believe it will create a burden on our senior community to have to host two caucuses, as well as create confusion among our residents, who still strive to be very active voters. Thanks for considering this request, and thank you for all your work on this difficult and challenging task. Suzy Witzler Highlands Ranch, CO 80129 (submitted by email 7/28/21)

I know your group has a very difficult endeavor. I also realize you can’t satisfy everyone. I’m a resident at Wind Crest Senior Living Community in Highlands Ranch. We currently have about 1600 residents. You probably understand that seniors follow issues and we vote at a higher rate than any other age demographic. In the most recent preliminary district map you issued, it appears our Wind Crest campus is split between two Colorado House Districts. Bluntly, this makes no sense for our community. Ours is one community where we interact, dine and meet all over our campus. We are many people, but one community. I implore you to have all of Wind Crest be one precinct and a part of one Colorado House District. Further, that Colorado House District should be a part of the larger Highlands Ranch District. Lastly, while Douglas County is a quite large land mass, the northern areas of Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree and Parker are really urban suburbs of Denver and have little in common with the southern areas that are more rural. My plea is that our U.S. Congressional District, currently CD6 for most of Highlands Ranch, be a part of a greater Denver CD than a southern Colorado CD. I don’t envy you your task, but I ask that Wind Crest remain one precinct and one HD and that we remain a part of an urban CD. Thanks for your work and for considering my points. Frank A. I live in the Wind Crest retirement community in Highlands Ranch and am learning about the redistricting plans which would divide our tight knit community into two legislative districts. I understand that the redistricting task is a complex and difficult one and appreciate all the effort you are putting into this important work, but splitting our community should not be part of the way forward. Wind Crest is far more than a collection of residences with street addresses. We meet together across the campus to eat, take classes, initiate activities, and take part in groups that participate in the wider community outside the campus. Splitting us in two would be divisive to the unity we strive to achieve in every aspect of our lives here. Please find another way to achieve your goal. Thank you. (submitted by email 7/29/21)
