Please do not allow last minute changes that Kottwitz and Barnett are proposing. I live in a semi-rural area near the Front Range where houses are growing more than protection for and preservation for open space and fresh water resources. Oil and gas operations from drilling to pipelines surround us and we don't have a voice in the matter. Air pollution and un healthy air quality days are increasing along the Front Range, due to no regulation of Oil & Gas emissions. Farmland is being lost at a very high rate to commercial and residential development, without much thought being given to where can we get local fresh food, especially vegetables. The majority of people in Colorado don't vote for the extreme right wing candidates, so please do not favor and cut out districts that favor Republican voters over Democrats or Independents, either Congressionally or in the state legislature. In the last 10 years, I haven't moved but I have been in possibly 3 different Congressional Districts. I want to live in a Community and be represented by people who believe in science, public health standards, effective public schools, and a friendly social environment. I want nothing to do with nihilistic and anti-scientific people and leaders.

I have commented in person at the Alamosa meeting and on line about the proposed redistricting. My understanding was that the latest map, while not my favorite, was a done deal. I now come to understand that Republican legislative Redistricting Commissioners Hunter Barnett (R) and Aislinn Kottwitz (R) are working with non-disclosing and unregistered GOP operatives lobbying to shove through a last-minute set of maps to the Supreme Court that would fundamentally alter the make-up of the state senate and house, almost certainly ensuring control for Colorado Republicans over the next decade. This is a mockery of everything that Independent Redistricting Commissions are meant to stand for. Colorado is a blue state from the last election. Colorado voters voted for an independent committee to listen to the people and draw up the maps. Not to once again have republicans try to fix things to their own liking. Thank you.

Comment:

Republican Commissioners Hunter Barnett and Aislinn Kottwitz, who are members of the Legislative Redistricting Commission, are attempting to gerrymander the Colorado Senate and House, ensuring Republican control of the state assembly for the next decade. On Tuesday, nonpartisan, neutral redistricting staff submitted their final set of legislative maps to the commission, which would ensure fair representation for the people of Colorado, as they wanted. But Republican legislative Redistricting Commissioners Hunter Barnett (R) and Aislinn Kottwitz (R) are working with non-disclosing and unregistered GOP operatives lobbying to shove through a last-minute set of maps to the Supreme Court that would fundamentally alter the make-up of the state senate and house, almost certainly ensuring control for Colorado Republicans over the next decade. This is a mockery of everything that Independent Redistricting Commissions are meant to stand for. Reject maps being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz and support maps drawn by nonpartisan staff.

Comment:

Any maps being pushed by commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz should be thrown out. As a concerned Colorado citizen I want to see maps that are non-partison (as drawn by nonpartison staff). Any maps that smack of gerrymandering should be trashed.

G'Day, I am writing to ask you to reject the proposals submitted by commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz. I would urge you to make district 3 more competitive by adding additional areas along the I 70 corridor such as Summit County and Vail, as well as Chaffee county to that District .

This needs to be a fair process please! I have attended meetings, I have listened, it's been clear that lobbyists are not supposed to be playing a role in this process. PLEASE reject the maps that are being laid out by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz and support maps drawn by NON-partisan staff. Please. Thank you. And thank you for your work on all of this.

Please reject maps that are subject to undisclosed GOP lobbying and support nonpartisan staff plans. There is no legitimate reason behind the Kottwitz plan for hd52 and hd53.

Comment:

I write in support of the proposed congressional district maps drawn by non-partisan staff currently under consideration by the full board of commissioners. I oppose recent and ongoing last minute attempts at gerrymandering those maps by Commissioner Barnett and Kottwitz. Please keep the process transparent and vote to approve the staff recommendations which have gone through an extensive evaluation and public comment process. They are fair and equitable to all political parties. Note: this may be a duplicate comment. I'm resubmitting because I want it to apply to both Congressional and. Legislative redistricting.

Colorodans voted for TRANSPARENCY in redistricting. I urge you to respect Colorado voters and REJECT THE LATE ATTEMPT BY REPUBLICAN COMMISSIONERS Hunter Barnett and Aislinn Kottwitz, allegedly working with undisclosed GOP operatives/lobbyists, to push through a last ditch SUBMISSION OF STATE SENATE AND HOUSE MAPS intended to unfairly advantage their party. That smells of the political gerrymandering that Coloradans voted to end. I urge you to stand up for a fair and transparent process. Thank you for your hard work on this critically important issue.
