Dear Legislative Commission Members and Staff,
My name is Dr. Ernestine Garcia. I've lived in Thornton for over 20 years and lived and worked in Commerce City for over 20 years.
My community of interest is the Latino Community. I have addressed you before and I am compelled to address you again. I am in support of the final legislative maps the redistricting staff submitted to the commission.
On behalf of the Latino Community of Interest, you must reject maps being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz and support maps drawn by nonpartisan staff.
I encourage you to take a stand for transparency by rejecting any maps that could be tarnished by the ongoing, unreported lobbying to gerrymander legislative districts for the GOP at the expense of fair and effective representation for the Latino Community.
Thank you for your consideration and service,
Dr. Ernestine Garcia

I am very concerned about the current state of this process and I urge you to take a stand for transparency by rejecting any maps that could be tarnished by the ongoing, unreported lobbying to gerrymander legislative districts for the GOP, specifically the maps being pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz. Please, instead, support the maps drawn by nonpartisan staff. Let's be fair and consider the needs of the whole!
Thank you.

Comment:
As a voting member in my community, I trust the people of the legislation to be transparent in the work that they do. I expect the redistricting maps to be drawn up being nonpartisan. Please be aware of new maps being presented by Commissioners Hunter Barnett and Aislinn Kottwitz that are being pushed through last minute by lobbying efforts to gerrymander legislative districts for the GOP. This is dishonest and not transparent. We expect the Supreme Court to see through this partisan effort.
thank you for taking the time to read my concerns,

Commissioners,
Please reject the recent maps promoted by Commisioners Barnett and Kottwitz as I think they unfairly apportion districts. The maps drawn up by the nonpartisan staff would, in my mind, be much fairer for us voters.

As a Denverite I am very proud that we have an Independent Redistricting Commission that maintains the goal of keeping the districts fair, balanced and transparent. Yet lack of transparency seems alive and well, Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz’s push for maps backed by lobbyist to create legislative districts for the GOP is not acceptable, this is no different than Republican gerrymandering.
And that… Is Not Independent.
The Colorado Independent Redistricting Commission must take a stand for transparency and reject any and all maps that could be manipulated by either side or malicious lackeys.
It is obvious as an Independent Commission that any maps drawn by the nonpartisan staff need to be supported while maps pushed by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz need to be rejected immediately.

Reject the maps from Hunter Barnett and Aislinn Kottwitz, who are trying to push a gerrymandered version that gives the GOP unfair advantage for years to come. They are being inappropriately funded by GOP lobbyists. The commission is supposed to be independent, and these two commissioners are not serving independently as they promised they would.
Please accept the Staff map that is non-partisan and ensure transparency and fairness.

I understand that Commissioners Hunter Barnett and Aislinn Kottwitz are attempting to make changes to the recommended state legislative maps submitted to the Commission by its staff members. Please disregard and reject the efforts of Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz to circumvent and undermine the goal of Amendment Z, which was enacted to guard against these types of partisan maneuvers. Thank you.

It is imperative that the maps presented by Commissioners Barnett and Kottwitz be rejected. The maps drawn by the non-partisan staff are much more realistic and better reflect the political districts. I urge you to reject the Commissioners' proposal. Thank you. Harry Agnew
