I donated money to Eric Montoya who ran for Mayor in Thornton.
PTA at my Children's School. I worked with my community to fight for the Thornton Shopping Center. I have helped many candidates run for office in Thornton.
I help Latinos fight for their rights to vote. I help feed the homeless. I also help the deaf and hard hearing community be a part of community outreach and the voting process.
My community is my heart. I truly believe that voting is the strong form of power anyone has. Everyone should have be able to vote and have access to voting. I want to be on the commission because I think it helps find a way to make sure everyone has a voice.
I will listen to people. Most often when people don't feel understood or feel ignored they become angry. When let someone know you hear them even if you don't agree; they will be more willing to hear and understand your point of view.
I remember when I ran city council a few years ago. I knocked on the door of a hard core republican. He told me I was to liberal and he would never vote for me. I asked he to please share with me his vision for our community. After listing to him I repeated back what he had told me. I wanted to know I had heard what he said. I asked if he would listen to me and my point of view. He did; I then told him that we worked together we could accomplish a lot more. Not only did he vote for me but he learned to view some issues a little differently. I truly believe that when listen we are able to be more understanding and caring towards one another. I will bring open ears and an open mind to the table.
