Organization and Advocacy Experience

Working with the Rodarte Center has exposed me to the issues faced by many latino families in Northern Colorado. In my work for ALIGHT, I represent sex trafficking survivors, and I've become much more sensitive to the unique issues they face and their particular brand of resiliency. I served as a mentor through the Inn of Court and counseled my mentees through finding employment in a crowded economy.

Redistricting shapes our democracy on a fundamental level. Thoughtful redistricting is especially important now in light of the partisan controversy that impacted the collection of census data. I feel a duty to make sure underrepresented groups are accounted for in the process.

Statement on Working with Consensus

As an attorney, I am well-practiced in identifying and addressing the issues in controversy to streamline the discussion. I negotiate contracts daily and I understand that in every negotiation, the success of the resulting relationship must be the ultimate focus. I am trained to be objective and consider all elements of an issue.

Relevant Analytic Skills for Commission

Law school trains students to apply reason to a problem. When I worked as a litigator, my arguments usually prevailed, often because I was able to make fine, but important, distinctions in the facts of the case. I would bring those skills - attention to detail, full comprehension of any issues, and pointed presentation of the fair position - to the redistricting process.
