I have donated to numerous political campaigns including those of my state and federal legislators, Leslie Herod and Diana DeGette. I have also donated to presidential campaigns of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. I have donated to One Colorado and New Era Colorado.
I served on the board of the Alexander Foundation and currently serve on the board of the Colorado LGBT Bar Association. I have donated to community organizations including Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Project Angel Heart, Teller Elementary School, East High School, Big Bend Caring, the Denver Foundation, Colorado Health Network and First Babtist Church of Denver
On the LGBT Bar Association Board, we collaboratively consider and decide issues of representation and advocacy for LGBT attorneys in Colorado. We are presented with many proposals and concerns and work through them as a group to set priorities and advocate for the interests of our members.
This is an opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way to the fundamental processes of democracy, and to collaborate with other well-meaning citizens to achieve a fair outcome.
I first seek to understand other points of view, listen with respect and consider the value of the information. If i feel i have something useful and constructive to offer, i try to do that in a sensible and respectful way, mindful that people may have different priorities, but that compromise is a virtue and not a weakness.
I first seek to define the problem or issue, then gather as much information as possible about it, to understand it. I then try to remain open to all possible solutions, even ones that seem unlikely, and narrow down the best approaches based on how they contribute toward the ultimate goal.
