Organization and Advocacy Experience

The only experience I have is joining text teams during this cycle. I texted on behalf of the working families party, No on 115 campaign, progress now, and Colorado Democrats.

Fair districts are critical to the future of our democracy. We need to right the ship here in Colorado and set an example for other places across the nation struggling with gerrymandering.

Statement on Working with Consensus

I am a pretty level-headed person, who likes facts. I care about outcomes and tend to focus on that. I hope that this attention to facts and on outcomes would help a group level-set when faced with difficult decisions. I’ve been practicing deep listening, which includes not thinking about what you are going to say while another person is talking. I believe this skill is very helpful in building consensus. Being heard is a big part of agreement.

Relevant Analytic Skills for Commission

I am a problem solver by nature and by training. In my current work with Boulder Organic Foods I analyze many disparate strains of information to determine where we can realistically make progress on a sustainability initiative with very little budget. I learned rapid analysis on the job as a whitewater raft guide for 10 years. In whitewater problems arise quickly and solving them requires constant re-evaluation of your current circumstances and resources. It also requires quick improvisation when Plan A doesn’t work out. I feel very comfortable applying logic and running scenarios while operating under a clear objective.
