Both of my parents were at Dr. Martin Luther King's 1963 I Have a Dream speech in Washington DC. They took from that a commitment to equality and justice that continued throughout their lives and influenced my upbringing. As far back as I can remember I have worked with groups to promote equal access to the political process for all citizens and increase participation in our civic discussion.
I believe that fair redistricting is integral to good government in Colorado and our country. When I addressed the 2011 Redistricting Commission in Grand Junction I advocated for drawing competitive districts tying together communities of interest considering cultural, economic, educational, and geographic congruity.
While working on trails I have come in contact with people who have different interests in using the same space. Through finding common ground and mutual goals we are able to build something that works for the majority of trail users.
I have been a resident of Colorado for over 30 years and have an understanding of our diverse communities of interest. As a mountain bike guide I developed map reading and decision making skills.
