I have donated small amounts of money ($5-$40) to Democratic candidates for President and Congress since 11/10/2015. I've donated small amounts of money to MoveOn.org and ActBlue since 11/102015.
I was signed up to volunteer for the Elizabeth Warren campaign in 12/2019 and 1/2020, but she dropped out of the race before I did anything.
I want to serve on the commission because I want to use my expertise in geography, geospatial analysis, geographic information systems, spatial statistics, and data science to ensure fair redistricting for all Coloradans.
I believe in our system of government. I believe that all citizens have a right to fair representation in Congress. I will put country above party and work toward a fair system for redistricting that will not provide an advantage to any particular political party, socioeconomic group, race, or religion. Science, logic, integrity, honesty, fairness, and protecting a fair representative republic are more important to me than my own particular political beliefs.
I am a scientist with a Ph.D. in Geology and an M.S. in Earth Sciences with an emphasis on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). I apply logic, reason, and the scientific method to all aspects of my academic and professional life. I am currently working on a Data Science Career Certificate through Springboard that I expect to complete by January 2021. I have eleven years experience in solving problems with GIS. I believe we can establish a set of criteria that will ensure a fair system of redistricting and we can establish boundaries using GIS. I would like to bring bring my expertise in GIS and Data Science to this effort.
