I am currently a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) of Larimer County and have been for 1 1/2 years. As a CASA, I advocate for children whose parents are working through the Dependency and Neglect court and assist other CASA’s with their individual cases as a pier coordinator.
I live in a rural area and feel we are under represented.
I am a very fair and rational person with the ability to understand, appreciate and listen to all sides of the story before I render an opinion. As a CASA, it is imperative that I am impartial and non-judgmental. My math aptitude is above average and I understand statistics, averages and numbers in general. I am also a small business owner and have been for 30 years. For 20 years I was part owner in a high traffic retail store. I spent all of that time as a salesperson, service and installation scheduler and accountant. Our business success was (and is currently) driven by great customer service and conflict resolution. Mediation and problem solving are my strong suits. I have an upbeat personality that would rather debate with respect that overpower with boisterous arguements.
Classes that were required for my Bachelor’s degree included statistics, calculus, organic and inorganic chemistry and physics to name a few. I am a very logical, critical thinker that asks a lot of questions and needs concrete, detailed explanations. I don’t do well with emotional, off the cuff, platitudes.
