I am a High School Social Studies Teacher at Fairview High School in the Boulder Valley School District. I have been in my position for 10 years.
I have a Master's Degree in Philosophy and Public Policy from the London School of Economics. I also graduated with Honors from the University of Hawaii, Hilo with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Philosophy. I received my teacher training from Metro State University and currently hold a teaching license in Colorado.
I have done precinct level volunteering to help get out the vote for the Boulder County Democrats and have donated money to Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Barack Obama.

I have been a member of the Boulder Valley Education Associations Political Action Committee for 6 years, which works to advance public policy issues that are important to the teaching profession. I have also been the leader of student volunteering efforts to register voters aged 16-18 in Boulder County.
I think fair, independent drawing of legislative boundaries is essential to a well-functioning democracy. As a social studies teacher, I have long taught about the dangers of allowing politicians to choose their voters, rather than the other way around, and would love to be part of making a fair system to accurately represent the people of Colorado.
I am and always have been a very fair minded, consensus-driven individual, that prizes civility and the functioning of our democratic institutions above any particular allegiances to political party. In fact, my job as a high school social studies teacher demands that all views are explored and that students are directly taught the skills to filter out bias when evaluating information and engaging as citizens. There is no one who would accuse me of being anything but fair, impartial, and civil in my private or public life.
The ability to apply logic and reason to problems is exactly what my Master's Degree in Philosophy and Public Policy was all about. I also teach these specific skills to my social studies students every single day. I really do live and breathe these attributes on a daily basis in both my personal and professional lives.
